This is the best 34 seconds of gospel music on network television ever. The harmonies tend to suggest Appalachian shape note singing, as they should, if the show was to be accurate in relation to its’ mountain setting. Griffith, a fine musician and singer in his own right, is joined by the Dillards, a sterling bluegrass band of the time who had a recurring role from 1963 – 1966 on The Andy Griffith Show as the musically-inclined, but socially awkward, hillbound family, the Darlings.
