Speaking softly, the lead singer of Imari Tones introduces their song “Jesus Train” with palpable sincerity. In strong contrast his Flying V guitar speaks loudly and with considerable skill as he tears through meaty metal scales. Young and aggressive, this group is off to a good start and will hopefully keep the faith as they mature musically and spiritually. Christian heavy metal is a challenging bill to fill at any level and “Jesus Train” has that mismatched feeling that a song takes on when melody and inspiration are replaced by lyrics and a few favorite guitar riffs. No gooseflesh as the message comes home thru a killer chorus on this one. The potential is clear and though unseen, may yet come back on every wave.

Imari Tones, the first Christian heavy metal band from Japan, will perform at Seattle’s notorious Blue Moon Tavern on May 21, 2011. Radio preacher Harold Camping has identified this date as the date of the return of Christ. Opening act Hejira will kick things off with a set of Middle Eastern music complete with belly dancer.
Will someone please get over there and interview this band? Either video, audio, text. Anything on this band would be great.
