I watched Roger Federer win his first…sorry…Swede Daniel Sedin just tied the game in the third period (Go Canucks!)…Wimbledon while I was in a hotel room in CA. He has since won 15 other Grand Slam titles, besting Bjorn Borg. Federer was ranked #1 for years until a Spaniard named Nadal started a dominant path over Federer and the field, which appealed to me. I rooted for the younger Nadal every time he faced Federer, but I can no longer do so. In tomorrow’s French Open final, after Federer beat the favorite in the semis, I will root for Federer for the first time since his dominance. You see, if Nadal beats the Swiss tomorrow, then Nadal ties Borg for winning the most French Open titles.
