This particular piece of loveliness is by Frances Donelly, aka Animal Magic Tricks. I don’t even know how to describe it – pretty songs poured like some sort of crackle glazing over ambient found noise. I first heard Frances singing on the freakin’ fantastic Cold Seeds record, where her contribution reduced me to a few quiet tears. I think that puts into a short list of four songs that have made me cry. This new video – ‘What Am I To Do When’ is like living inside one of those Victorian seaside peep show amusements. Or I could just think that because Frances lives in Brighton.
