Late night radio received some horrible news tonight when popular Coast to Coast Am host, Ian Punnett, the best C2C host ever (he’s surpassed the great Art Bell) announced yesterday that he has been suffering from tinnitus and hearing loss. To aggressively treat this condition, Punnett will take time off from the show beginning January 2012. While Punnett intends to continue hosting one Coast to Coast show monthly– to take place on the second Sunday night of each month– he will surrender his weekly time slot.
Diehard Coast fans everywhere are saddened by this news as Punnett’s thoughtful Saturday night shows were a highlight of the fringe-friendly paranormal show’s weekly schedule. “Ian was a great host of that show,” one of his Indiana fans remarked, “smart, educated, and not a gullible dunce like other hosts of that same show. I wish him well.
Saturday Coast to Coast shows, formerly hosted by Punnett, will be hosted, starting in 2012, by radio veteran John B. Wells, a newcomer to Coast to Coast whose early shows have exhibited great promise.
