“Ho Ho Ho’s will never be the same,” says Kelly Lichtenwaldt, drummer for Seattle band Quickie. He is talking about his band’s new Christmas video, “All I want for Christmas is a Ho Ho Ho!”
“We’re tapping into our inner reindeer Ramones,” says Quickie’s lead singer Lou Trez. “The world needs to see that reindeer rock and have opposable thumbs. So look out hunters”.
The video was filmed Dec 10, 2011 during SantaCon Seattle 2011 at the Rat and Raven in the U-District.”
“All the people were amazing and fun,” said guitarist Joe Wolf. “Maybe it was the drinking before noon but they were very festive.”
The song and video twist old Christmas lyrics from songs such as “Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer” and “All I Want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth,” with the poem, “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas” and mix in mistletoe and candy cane wishes while oddly mentioning the X-Box and paying homage to the film, Reservoir Dogs.
The song and video idea arose last year when Quickie was playing a show in Fremont and the venue was invaded by hundreds of Santas from Santacon and Santarchy. “Obviously it was a message from Santa Claus telling us to write a Christmas song,” Wolf laughs. “You never know where a song’s inspiration will come from”.
“It’s a fun, wild, energized, PG-13, twisted Christmas video loaded with holiday cheer,” said Trez. “We believe that we are the first punk rock Reindeer trio ever.”
