The Joy Formidable’s most recent US tour has been a huge success by the looks of things. They have been playing some new songs, notably ‘Silent Treatment’ brilliantly captured here by Paul Gormley. Paul’s a mate of mine and a TJF nut, as evidenced from his nipping over from the UK to NYC to catch a couple of shows. This was Terminal 5 and is the best version I’ve seen of this so-far unreleased song.
And while we’re at it, the band did a whole 30 minute set at the YouTube studio – again, great versions of songs, kicking off with ‘Austere’ which really must have vampire DNA in the way it simply hasn’t aged. Listen out for Ritzy teasing Matt and suggesting that she almost “has the sense that you’re not fucking playing”.
