Trentalange, Shana Falana (from NY), Gems, Half Light and a multi-media artist from NY who wants to be referred to only as “Special Guest” will be playing a mix of ambient/shoegaze/garage and every other good thing at the Rat and Raven in Seattle on June 28.
It has been a year and a half since Trentalange played live. Joining Barbara Trentalange will be Stuart McLeod (Sil2k), Arthur Roberts (sushiRobo, Peach, Posies) and Janice Lee (Seattle Opera). It will be a fun night of music.
Shana Falana (NY) is an experimental pysch-pop band emerging from Brooklyn’s vast shoegaze scene. Combining live-looping of reverb-drenched vocals and guitar with drums, pre-recorded “backing tracks”, and stunning visual projections, Shana’s live experience has often been described as transcendental. Praised as “the most entrancing modern psychedelic pop now being made” by Chronogram magazine (NY), Shana is now touring the US and Europe in support of her debut EP, “In The Light.”.
Gems lays down deep danceable grooves full of twists and turns underneath a canopy of haunting synthesized mayhem unlike anything you’ve ever heard. Two drummers, Adrian Van Batenburg and Jacob Evans, provide the foundation of syncopated interweaving rhythms, while two keyboardists, Gary Palmer and Dan Rapport, build both melodic and bass heavy songs around it. A unique sonic experience you will not soon forget.
Half Light plays dreamy rock. Good for dark bars, candlelit basements, long drives… Some of the band members enjoy making cookies.
