Girl In A Coma released their cover of the classic “Heatwave,” the song made famous by Martha and the Vandellas in 1964. Girl In A Coma’s version of the song, which was just released today, is now available on iTunes and has been picked up by JC Penney for their July national ad campaign. Girl In A Coma’s charging version of “Heatwave” adds the band’s irresistible rock & roll charm to make it the perfect song for summer 2012.
The band is also kicking off a headlining tour of North America on July 9th (here are great live photos of Girl in a Coma, taken at their recent Seattle appearance), which will see them on the road through August. The band has been taking over stages nationwide since the November release of their latest album Exits & All the Rest, which NPR named one of 2011’s best albums and recently won an Independent Music Awards for Best Independent/Alternative Rock Album.
