”I didn’t know if I was going to become a musician, because I couldn’t sing very good. In those days you really had to be a good singer. I didn’t know I had a chance until Dylan came along. I couldn’t really understand what he was saying, but then I heard Sonny Bono and I thought, well I could do it.”
Wow, my first huge musical passion. I loved Mott The Hoople. They were my first gig, although technically the first band I saw were their openers that night, a little known new band called Queen, on their first UK tour. I’ve even seen some try to re-write that night, and re-cast Queen as the headliners, but Mott were absolutely the stars of the show. 17th November 1973.
