The True Spokes‘, “Back Porch” video was directed by feature film director Jeff Ferrell (Ghostlight) and produced by Soul United Productions with assistance and support from Summer Meltdown.
The True Spokes recently changed their name from Flowmotion and released a self titled debut that reflects new aspects of their maturing sound and development as a band of multiple songwriters and voices. Changing their name 10+ years into a career as a beloved & undefinable Westcoast dance \ rock \ world funk act has been a challenge as far as tuning in several generations of fans into their new direction and identity. But I appreciate how brave and decisive their decision was.
As the producer of this video I did my best to capture the personalities and fun I have always admired from this group going back to the early days, when a little band called Flowmotion laid it all down on the line year after year to throw the greatest party of all time, Summer Meltdown. The party has become arguably the best festival (pound for pound) in the NWst, and Flowmotion has become The True Spokes. But this video, shot on location at the festival’s home, the Whitehorse Mountain Amphitheater, proves that what people loved about Flowmotion & Summer Meltdown will never change. We may grow older and our production values may grow to be finer, but the spark that started it all is still a gorgeous flame.
