Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel had been officially broken up for more than ten years before reuniting for this 1981 concert in Central Park. The concert video was the first time I’d ever seen anyone play an Ovation guitar on stage. Simon’s use of the same instantly popularized that plasticene bowl-backed six-string, the distinctive strummed sound of which is best heard in their cover of the Everly Brothers, “Wake Up Little Susie.”
