Willie Nile – Vagabond Moon – One of Many Late 70s New Dylans

Steve Forbert may be back with a new album, but my sentimental favorite of the late 70s new Dylans was Willie Nile, who is still out there touring. (He made his way to England at least once in the last few years.) I’d love to do a series of EPB posts on all of the new Dylans since the early 60s. The late 70s club included Forbert and Nile and perhaps the “No Mercy” singer, Nils Lofgren. On their album covers most of these artistes were clad in leather jackets looking more like the new Lou Reed than anyone else. With his excellent acoustic half of Rust Never Sleeps, Neil Young, while not new, may have been the most authentically early-Dylanesque artist of that late 70s early 80s era. (Thanks to Ed Gomez for help with this post.)
