Here’s another band that I met while driving around Portland, Glassbones. Or at least I met the singer-guitarist, Colin, who is truly a nice fellow. He mentioned he’s a cook by trade. (He’s hot, he plays in a band AND he cooks, ladies. For what more could you possibly ask…) They released an excellent album in 2012 called, There’s Still Time Left which you can listen to below or at the band’s website or their Facebook page. They describe themselves as “an alternative rock band with elements of grunge and post-punk” which is a technically true description but it comes across as a tad over-cautious and genre-obsessed. I would describe it as captivating, dark and lovely melodic rock with fine performances and clever lyrics. Listen to this album all the way through, kids, and you’ll love it. Start with the leadoff title track which features a beautiful melody and haunting descending progression, then go all the way through the work and you’ll be amazed at the fantastic tunes which follow one upon another.
