At the age of 20, Samm Henshaw has already began to make serious waves following the inception of ‘Only Wanna Be With You’, the stunning song taken from his debut EP The Sound Experiment. Currently completing his final year at university, this free-flowing EP was created with friends through late-night jamming and songwriting sessions, and the next instalment is in the form of ‘Redemption’.
‘Redemption’ is yet another display of the sheer talent and ability in Samm’s vocal and songwriting skills. Full of solemn power, Samm evokes meaning and symbolism through his writing, complemented by organic guitars and harmonicas, while also being beautifully supported by his backing vocalists’ haunting harmonies.
Citing musical influences such as Hozier, D’Angelo and Paolo Nutini – as well as many gospel greats – Henshaw’s roots play a huge part in his music. When combined with his love of experimentation, he has the innate ability to create tracks of masterful imagery and production. In his own words “Art is about freedom and doing your own thing” and in Henshaw’s case, his art will without doubt captivate audiences with its resonance.
‘Redemption’ enticingly steps further towards what is already being anticipated from Samm Henshaw’s The Sound Experiment, which is due to be released on 13th July.
