After the Blazer-Warrior game I attended back in March, I spent some time in the hallway outside the Warrior locker room with Steph Curry and some of his friends, just being a fly on the wall and listening to their conversation. One of the comments I remember was one of Curry’s friends telling him, “Good luck with the MVP. I know you don’t like to talk about it, but it’s a two-man race now.”
MVP awards may be the most coveted in sports, and they bestow a lot of respect from peers. They also carry weight with Hall-of-Fame voters, especially if they come more than once over the course of a long career. Curry may not have talked about the MVP award, but I’ll bet he thought of it a lot, and he is almost certainly a very happy man today.
