Today, Richard Thompson is sharing “All Buttoned Up”, a new track from his masterful new album Still, due for release June 23rd, 2015 via Fantasy Records (Concord Music Group.)
Spiked with Thompson’s acerbic wit and masterful word play, “All Buttoned Up” is one of the lighter counterpoints on an album that is filled with emotional resonance. The compositions, populated by a multitude of characters on the brink, are rich with Thompson’s keen insight, humor and brilliant musicianship.
Produced by Jeff Tweedy, Still was recorded in a two-story rehearsal loft in Chicago over the course of just nine days and features several longtime players from both Thompson’s and Tweedy’s bands. The album will be released in several configurations including 180gram vinyl.
A recipient of BBC’s Lifetime Achievement Award and Mojo’s Les Paul Award, Richard Thompson was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire in the Queen of England’s 2011 New Year Honours List. The Americana Music Association also recently honored him with a Lifetime Achievement Award for Songwriting. Robert Plant, REM, Elvis Costello, Bonnie Raitt and many others have recorded Thompson’s songs.
