Correatown’s new collection of wet, somehow magical little stones has been glistening in the dabbled sunlight of it’s musical dawn for a couple of weeks now. I stumbled across them just now. Let me show you some?!
This one, “Longshot” (below), is for when you’re having trouble smiling. See its color? That’s dandelion. If you hold it to your nose and sniff it, you’ll have a bit of bright yellow dust on your nose… but you won’t know it’s there. Only the people who look at your nose will. Later, when you get time to reflect, you’ll see it and you’ll feel silly. That’s how it makes you smile.
“Eyes to the Sky” is like hair conditioner that you put on at night. Your hairs all fuzzy cause it’s been riding around on your frazzled brain all day, and it’s like a ball of twine made up of all these moody muddy colors. So you put on some “Eyes to the Sky” for a couple minutes and all the knotty twistedness succumbs to purely natural forces of gravity, forcing relaxation, and separation, which ends up making a rainbow that comes in one ear and goes out the other over and over.
If you want to know how to make a flower, you can use “Small Hours.” Rub it on the underside and a petal will appear in your hand. Put the petal down, and rub it and some more will come out. Singular, elemental, ultimately encircling, and once complete it vanishes leaving only a little whiff to remember it’s passing beauty.
I especially like “Lucky Ones.” It kissed me on the back of my neck when I was holding my head in my hands and I needed a kiss but I didn’t want to tell anybody but Lucky One’s knew and even though we weren’t officially friends it snuck up and smooched me. It was nice. Simple and good.
So there’s more, and each one’s special. Maybe for you the magic will be different cause that’s how music magic works. You can get the whole box of ’em, it’s called Embrace the Fuzzy Unknown, cause you gotta love the warm surprises in life.
