I’ve been eager for a classical work to come in over the indie music wire. Now one has, and “The Book of Arius – Act I” is a great one. I love it. TC Crosser has serious compositional skills and extraordinary self confidence to send his work out this way. Please give it a listen.
Created by T.C. Crosser, “The Book of Arius – Act I” is a four movement large scale narrative piece composed for string quartet.

An autobiographical project, the composer uses the composition to weave a narrative based on three distinct points in his life: an abusive childhood in rural Iowa, coming out of the closet while enlisted in the Navy, and leaving an abusive relationship while producing punk bands in San Francisco.
The full four movement set was recorded with a 14 mic array for the string quartet and then processed through a unique blend of guitar amps, effects pedals, and a custom built plate-reverb room.
About The Composer:
After years of composing, playing piano, and producing west-coast punk and indie bands in the early 2000’s, T.C. Crosser now blends chamber strings and rock/pop to tell narrative stories with instrumental music.
He’s scored music for commercials (such as Microsoft), television (such as Visionaries: Inside The Creative Mind), and performance art companies (such as Leslie Seiters Dance).
