I got some real challenges ahead in August. I know how to be Thick Jagger, lick a harmonica like boss, and front The Staxx Brothers all day. But this is new territory boss.
I am joining forces with the reggae outfit Hold in Fyah at Morgan Henley‘s Rock The Nation Carnation, WA block party on Saturday August 4th and even playing guitar on ‘Rum Kings’. That’s like starting a new band, and it ain’t easy especially as we adapt unfinished songs and an epic Anthony Red Rose studio production from Jamaica to a genuine concert setting.
We could knock it out of the park….potentially …if i rise to the challenge.
Then I am performing acoustic songs from the West Indian Rock album on a boat with Mike Martin for his undisclosed film project. And we’re also shooting my intro to my crowd funding project…on that boat. I don’t want to do a crowd funding project. But I gotta do a crowd funding project.
Then Saturday August 25th I have an acoustic solo set at the 50th Anniversary of the Sky River Rock Fest.
I don’t necessarily want to be an acoustic solo artist, but I need to get these songs I have written across to audiences one way or another, in some authentic way.
I have to be able to perform when I am available, rather than when everyone else is available, because there is no more time to wait for paid time off and everyone else’s equally important reality that this is a rat race tonthe death of runaway inflation known as rising rent that erases the would be savings of tomorrow.
I wish I was a better guitar player. That comes with things like practice and more experience. But I am 79 f☆cking years old. I don’t have time. I only have guts enough time for glory.
I want 100 more Staxx Brothers shows. I want 100 solo shows with killer bands around the world. But I got a guitar and 100s of songs I have almost finished, or such songs that started with me strummin’ on Staxx Brothers albums.
Heck, I got a dozen more tunes coming up on my so called solo albums like West Indian Rock and a single called ‘I Don’t Want To Leave’ out of Britain with Sherlock Soul. It’s time I memorize the songs I have written and do my best to mesmerize you.
I can sing like Otis Redding ate Paul Simon and shat out Jim Croce. But I can only play guitar about as well as Otis Redding. So I better come correct.
It’s time to step up or stay home.
But I wish I could just front The Staxx Brothers in theaters around the world and slather the Pop music world with my Sexual Chocolate and Hard Ass Soul & a Jelly Roll routine. But if I could have, I would have.
Maybe if I could score a couple dancehall hits with Mr. Anthony Red Rose.
Back to work. Sleep is key.
