This 600 second break song came to me as we were wrapping up last night listening to Simon & Garfunkel LIVE 1969. I hear as Latin in that Incan way that Paul used those indigenous sounding flutes on ‘Duncan’ and another greatest hit I can’t think of right now.
I am going change the hook to, “our hearts will turn to stone”. The Hearts of Stone cliché was used by The Stones and Springsteen, but it’s how you say something new with age old images and maxims that matters in Rock & Roll. The two hearts motif is another rag worn by U2 and the immortal Stacey Q.
But the idea here is much darker and more relatable. Some hearts soften with age. Some just just die. And the questions are why. But you can dance to it!
I want to hear what Reggae Powerhouse Band could do with songs like this. If they are going to tour the Caribbean, what could we do in those studios around the Caribbean; the Spanish, the English, the French, even the Dutch.
This is a glimpse into how much I write, how much I want to write, and how I won’t let the clock stop me.
…and on the part I was freestyling about the dirty world you can hear that moment where to many words and searching for a melody over a change is itself in the toolbox of creation.
