It’s just one of those things. It’s a challenge to make sure people get the jist that one of the top guitar players in New Orleans is going to play with The Staxx Brothers on Nov 3rd at The SeaMonster Lounge. It’s no longer an era where you send a press release to The Seattle PI or The Stranger or The Rocket, and they put a star by your show and it really matters. Those days are gone.
It’s hard to convey in a world that is so scattered and distracted and spread too thin, that something this real is really going to happen. Many will see Mike Martin‘s video clip and kind of wish they made it you know.
I don’t even know when or if The Staxx Brothers will play Seattle again. But I do know this is happening. And that I am so f☆cking lucky I get to work with folks like Eric and Anthony Cameron. People that left their fingerprints on the music of the Caribbean.
Because my friends, New Orleans is the Northwest of The Caribbean, and when Eric kicks off rehearsal Wednesday and Ryan Nutter, Justin Smith, Tom Wilkinson, and All About Window Cleaning/ Doug Rehfeldt kick into The Neville’s ‘Hey Pocka Way’ and ‘Dr. John’s ‘Walk on Gilded Splinters’ they are playing with a gentleman that those legends trust as a brother in arms on stage to make those songs live again.
And he trusts that we’ll do those songs justice in the heart of the Seattle funk soul scene, The Seamonster Lounge.
Tape will be rolling. Will you be there Sat Nov 3rd at 10 pm?
