Today, Grayshot share their rendition of the beloved Holiday classic, “Christmas Time Is Here,” from the 1965 TV Special, A Charlie Brown Christmas. The timeless tune has been covered by so many incredible artists, Aaron Ankrum, one of the brothers who make up Grayshot says, “This song has been a foundational part of our Christmas soundtrack as far back as we can remember- basically the Vince Guaraldi Trio album would come on and it was Christmas. When we started thinking about putting together a song for the holidays, it didn’t take long to settle on this one.” Adds Christian Ankrum, “Trying to capture its original magic but still make it our own was a great challenge for us- especially honoring the way Vince captured such a wide range of emotion without letting it become either saccharine or melancholy. It feels like real life, it’s hopeful and beautiful and maybe that’s why this is one of the most definitive Christmas songs for me.”

Last month, Grayshot released, “Misinformation” the first single from their forthcoming album, Surface. The track made its premiere via The Current. Christian Ankrum who handles lead vocals on Misinformation explains, “It’s a song for people who know they’re right, even when they’re wrong.” Brother Aaron adds, “it stems from the current culture of running with the rumor instead of waiting for the truth, especially when it benefits the messenger.” The song was inspired by the daily flood of ‘misinformation’. Modern musical angst, yet the song itself is anything but. Misinformation is a bright, power pop synth confection, the song’s candy coating obscuring the poignant message at its core. Coincidentally, “misinformation” was also chosen as Dictionary.com’s ‘Word of The Year.’
The accompanying video for Misinformation is a remarkable one-shot featuring a propulsive performance by Ryan Lance (of Minneapolis a capella superstars, The Blenders) which faithfully matches the song’s kinetic production style. The video was directed by Christian Ankrum and shot on Lake Street in Minneapolis.
Surface is the third album from Grayshot and will be released in February 2019.
