A work in progress. This song ‘Life Yard’ has a great story behind it. I wrote it right on the spot on location at my ‘Free Your Mind’ music video shoot when I meet the young folks behind the organic community farm, The Life Yard.
They would be at first glance to some, Rude Boys, but to me they were just urban farmers and educators, and we’re collaborating on this song I have been developing in terms of arrangment and riddims, with Hold in Fyah.
I cut these vocals with Mell Dettmer before she left for a recording assignment in Africa.
Now that Andon Hiltner is back from his grand tour of Hawaii, he’s going to lay down his definitive keyboards. Happy birthday buddy!
Even though this is still a rough approximation of the final work, I showed this to the Life Yard crew on Fleet St via Whats App and they are thrilled with the progress.
When I get back to Jamaica I want to shoot a video and add their vocals.
