Mother Mink – Sho Ping

Mother Mink is the band that will charm the crowd into dancing, singing and at the very same time make them reflect on the big global challenges of our time. With a baritone saxophone connected to an amplifier, distorted synthesizers, surf-guitars, drums and vocals, Mother Mink creates a most unique sound landscape. Despite the band´s playful way of expressing themselves, their lyrics will often raise awareness to serious environmental issues. The band writes catchy hits in a new way that will take the crowd on an extraordinary live experience!

Their new single “SHO PING”, is a track from their upcoming album that will be released “later this spring.” (Fingers crossed.) The song is a punch in the face to shopping spree days like Black Friday and other X-mas related orgies of purchasing.

“The idea for the song came to us watching hysterical movie clips from shopping malls where people where literally fighting, hurting and trampling down each other in order to get the best and cheapest prices,” says Mother Mink’s frontperson, Fanny. “There were also clips of people putting up camps and tents outside malls to be able to enter before everyone else. This was all inspiration for this song. We wanted to write a weird, funny and twisted song about over consumption, bad shopping habits and materialism. We hope that SHO PING can be a reminder to all of us to think twice before we purchase things. We should all try to avoid getting eaten by the big consumption monster!”

During 2018 Mother Mink toured Germany and Sweden. They also released their latest single “Plastic ghost” which is about plastic pollution in the oceans. So there.

And who can forget “Doobie Doobie.”
