“Straight Lines” is a new single from General Crush. The song is about navigating expectations of society and confronting rigid patterns of routine. The song is out now via Kobalt Music/AWAL. He’s releasing an EP “Reasons of Tomorrow” in July 2019. He co-directed the music video with his sister Nico Ward.
General Crush is the moniker for Boston-based songwriter and producer Ray Ward. Named after Ray Charles, Ward comes from a musical family and began his career as a bass player. His sound combines stripped down, bedroom style songwriting with lush, ethereal beats. Since 2017, he has notably released the Wide Escape EP and genre-bending singles “Beautiful Day” and “Find New Friends.” Blending diverse influences from alternative rock, folk, and downbeat electronica, his songs tell intimate stories with a wide sonic range.
