Tonight I started trying to collect some photos of these adventures to Jamaica and England before they are lost in the ether and die in the coldness of the cloud. If a picture is worth a thousand words, I have 10,000 words and 100 hooks to say about this shot of a Sick Donkey Records sticker in window of the Sunny Side Motel in Port Antonio Jamaica.
Follow Lenni I-Music. As the Jamaicans say, follow these movements, and make strong links.
There’s a lot you can learn the people of another nation. Especially one as rich as Jamaica. There’s a lot of poverty. But the reason Jamaicans have dominated music like no other land of less than 3 mill is because they are in fact rich beyond their wildest dreams. It’s just about who gets to unlock the chest.
Jamaica is the westernmost nation of Africa. It’s unique because the bloodline is dominated by the Akon people with strains of the equally legendary Igbo people of Nigeria. In Africa many peoples of diverse ethnic and genetic identities live in close proximity. There are sometimes a 100 dialects in 100 miles in a cross road such as Mali, but Jamaica’s vibrations are startlingly Akon. The reasons you have to have to ask the English and how they treated innocent men and women as a commodity like Tulip Bulbs. But that’s another story.
Music for Jamaica is both the treasure and the key. Support Jamaican arts and science.
