APOLOGIES IF A VIDEO ISN’T AVAILABLE IN YOUR COUNTRY
1 Kapingbdi – Mali Feeling (7)
Liberian outfit doing their take on the Mali sound with a jazzy vibe. This year is increasingly all about Jazz and it’s getting too funky. Can’t turn a corner without hearing a saxophone in 2019 !
2 Laurel & Hardy – You’re Nicked (6)
Off a new Soul Jazz comp celebrating UK label Fashion Records. If like BOP you grew up in late 70’s and early 80’s UK you couldn’t miss this sound it was everywhere. This one reminds us off the Smiley Culture classic, Police Officer.
3 Perpetual Flow – Don’t DJ (36)
We’re always happy when there’s a new release on Honest Jons. Prepare yourself for 16 minutes of the warmest electronic sounds of 2019. Stunning track
4 Metro Crowd – Student (35)
I really don’t what this is but it is strangely appealing. Not sure i could manage 4 hours ofit down the pub on a Wednesday night though.
5 Cherry Pickles – I Still Miss Lux (63)
I know exactly how Cherry feels. 2nd entry in two weeks for Cherry Pickles. Brilliant stuff. “Doc I still feel sick , I don’t what it is but I need some new kind of kick” That’s what we call lyrics. Sadly it’s all over far too quickly.. hit rewind and play again.
6 RMFC – Robot House (92)
As above, 2nd entry for RMFC in two weeks. Proof that Sydney still has it. I could listen to this about 10 times a day and have been doing so for the past week. Makes me want to jump up and down stupidly all day long. Market Square records should sign this guy and make him into a superstar.
7 Writhing Squares – Steely Eyed Missile Man (107)
More saxophone but this time with grinding raw rock’n’roll. It’s really annoying me , reminds me of something i love put can’t put my finger on it. Shades of the Saints X Ray Spex and even really early Devo and other good stuff.
8 Dumb – Magistrate (127)
Feel of a less polished Parquet Courts or those bands you might have heard in Melbourne 2012-2015. Neither of these things are bad so we’ll carry on listening to see what they do next.
9 Emmanuel – TK & The Holy Know Nothings (132)
A Nashville sounding version of The Felice Brothers. They can’t touch the Felice Brothers, but then again who can? But at least it’s real country talking about America today and that’s becoming rarer and rarer, sadly.
10 The Broto – Reptilia Galactica (586)
They say it best themselves..and we love heavy Indo vibes. ”Just four of kids who high as fuck and play with some amplifiers Oldschool doomy bastards who love to get stoned and watch horrors or read sci-fi books Stoner / Doom /Space / Slvdge whatever Rock from Jakarta suburb, Indonesia.”

CRABS EP
We have here a delicious anti record shop release by nobody less than the Bordellos. Thank youThe Bordellos! You are life savers!
YEAH I KNOW IT SUCKS
The Bordellos are making some of the best pop music I’ve heard, it’s just they’re doing it in such a wilfully obscure way you’ll never hear it.

The truth is, I would imagine, that these songs are the very antithesis of the manufactured happy pills that count as pop songs these days and that makes them,
for that very reason, worthy of a list
