The Last Bees – Self Titled EP

Meet the Last Bees, a Milwaukee-based power-pop outfit led by Ash (below.) They channel the pre-psych sounds of the British Invasion.

With sweet, melodic music becoming scarce, Ash began writing and singing songs that tapped into a kind of youthful vulnerability that has all but vanished. Ash’s new tunes hark back to a time not so different from our current culture– the early 60s, the time of the Beatles and the British invasion– a time when Britons and Americans needed a positive, uplifting release from the vicissitudes of a cold war world changing quickly. He unapologetically crafted a collection of sticky, retro, low-fi pop tunes which might be considered sacrilege to Beatles fans, if those songs weren’t so fresh, sincere and well-executed. Ash goes beyond an incredible simulation. Ash channels the FAB. You will believe a human in 2019 can dance the FRUG like no person has since ferries stopped crossing the Mersey.

Ash co-wrote “True or False” with legendary Chicago songwriter, Jim Peterik, who, though most celebrated for his work with Survivor, composed the greatest song of all time when still a young man, “Vehicle” by the Ides of March.

The Last Bees are currently playing dates across the hot and humid states of Wisconsin and Illinois.

Call me “Ash,” just “Ash” or don’t call me at all.
