It’s happening. The Portland Trail Blazers will meet the Golden State Warriors in the 2019 Western Conference Finals. Hard to say which half of the match-up was more improbable – the Warriors eliminating the Houston Rockets without Kevin Durant or the Blazers scratching and clawing out a Game 7 from the Denver Nuggets on the road. This will be the first Western Conference Finals in Portland since 2000, and with KD on the shelf for at least the first half of the series, the Blazers have a fighting chance to end the Dub dynasty and make their first Finals since 1992.
Even if you don’t live in Portland, this is the most exciting match-up possible to decide the Western Conference. It certainly beats Rockets-Nuggets, which would have been grounds for a Prozac prescription.
Game 3 in Portland Saturday night. See you there.
