“Outside, suburbia’s sprawling…?” Actually no. This is a different and much better song. Give it a listen.
Weaving conventional pop tropes amidst a glitchy electronic soundscape, Spanish producer and composer Manu Dia releases his newest single “Kids In America” featuring singer Panama and announces his debut EP Surface, via TOKiMONSTA’s imprint Young Art Records. “Kids In America”, the EPs lead single, is bursting with shimmering synths and buoyant summer melodies. “It’s a song about being young and embracing the experiences of your youth” Manu explains. “Something that will make you feel like you are on a perpetual sunset ride home.”
Growing up between Brussels and the Aragon Region of Spain, a former ancient kingdom, Dia has been shaped by exposure to vibrant cultures, architecture and natural landscapes. Surface, the six track from which this song is taken is embellished with jewels of electronica, moving expertly between an eclectic range of Spanish genres and Belgian stylistic devices. It “represents the start of a journey,’ says Dia, “through sound and the ever-evolving, ever-changing flow of life. There comes a point in each of our lives when we face a choice and must point ourselves towards an end goal or destination – whatever it may be. Surface is a reflection of this journey with every piece within acting as a stepping stone on the path.”
