I’ve been nominated by my brilliant pal Chris Estey to post 25 albums in 25 days that have had a major CREATIVE impact on me—just album covers without any explanation—and to nominate a different person each day to do the same.
Today I nominate: Leslie Woodward
Day 15:
The Jimi Hendrix Experience: ELECTRIC LADYLAND (Track Records, UK, 2LP, 1968) [censored, non-gatefold cover to meet Facebook standards]
The Jimi Hendrix Experience: ELECTRIC LADYLAND (Reprise Records, US, 2LP, 1968)
The Jimi Hendrix Experience: ELECTRIC LADYLAND (Barclay Records, France, 2LP, 1968)
The Jimi Hendrix Experience: ELECTRIC LADYLAND (Polydor Records, New Zealand, 2LP, 1968)
The Jimi Hendrix Experience: ELECTRIC LADYLAND (Polydor Records, Israel, single LP, 1968)
The Jimi Hendrix Experience: ELECTRIC LADYLAN (sic) (Polydor Records, Uruguay, single LP, 1968)
The Jimi Hendrix Experience: ELECTRIC LADYLAND (Polydor Records, Mexico, 2LP, 1969)
The Jimi Hendrix Experience: ELECTRIC LADYLAND (unofficial pirated release, Taiwan, 2LP, 1969)
The Jimi Hendrix Experience: ELECTRIC LADYLAND (unofficial pirated release, Greece, cassette, 1981)
The Jimi Hendrix Experience: ELECTRIC LADYLAND (SomeWax Recordings, Russia, unofficial cd reissue, 2001)
The Jimi Hendrix Experience: ELECTRIC LADYLAND (Experience Hendrix/Legacy, US, 3cd + blu-ray box set, 2018)
I can’t think of another “Canonical” Rock album with this truly demented level of cover art variation, worldwide! Number eleven (the recent box set) is the ONLY one in general accordance with Jimi Hendrix’ wishes for his magnum opus. He hated the UK original!
Originally purchased: April 1979 in Billings, MT.
