Ginger Baker, acclaimed drummer for Rock supergroups Cream and Blind Faith, has died at the age of 80.
Keith Moon, John Bonham, Mick Fleetwood, Phil Collins and Michael Dahlquist may have all been slghtly “better” in their own ways than the ferocious and chemically invigorated Baker, but I listened to and enjoyed more of Baker’s thunderous, post-modern drumming than such stuff from any of the others. His metier was the explosive sound of freedom and anarchy.
