APOLOGIES TO THOSE OF YOU WHO GOT LAST WEEK’S CHART EARLIER
BOP BEING IDIOTIC…….
1 Akron – Robot Grind (11)
Weird exotica surf thing going on..if it’s your bag there’s a whole album of it out there in the ether.
2 Verge Collection – Nice Day to Go to the Pub with Your Mum (24)
Perth’s Verge Collection eventually release their debut and it’s as fab as we could imagine. Highly underrated band. Winner of the most Aussie song title of the week.
3 Sexton Ming’s Porridge Van – You’ve Got Coke, I’m Your Best Friend (25)
Song title of the week and it’s true. Although from the sound of this song you wouldn’t want this dude to be your best friend.
4 Chocolate Affaire – Jump to Calypso (71)
From fab new compilation highlighting disco Soca & Calypso from the late 70’s and early 80’s. We could have chosen any track from the comp.. how about this one to lighten the day.
5 Jack Sparrow – Single Time (93)
Last heard by us on a Medi Tunes 12″ . Has that wonderful South London dystopian electro burialstep under the Vauxhall arches vibe we love so much. If you been a chart follower for the last couple of years you’ll know we love this sound.
6 Kelele – Judgitzu (185)
Did you like the Giant Swan tune? This 12″ is Giant Swan going on holiday to the DRC . Yes please more of this.
7 Federale – Trouble (308)
That rabbit / hare is definitely in trouble, click through and check out the cover. Music… meh!
8 Craven Faults – Deipkier (427)
A real treat, another new release from this lot in 2019. Craven Faults , to us anyway, is Giant Swan without the anger. Another breakthrough act that loads of others will want to sound like next year.
9 Low Anthem – Keep On The Sunnyside (610)
A bit of an oldie this one. With all the darkness in our world the human joy of the Low Anthem is something to behold. They seem to have disappeared which is somewhat sad as humanism like this is what we all need these days.
10 The Scaners – X Ray Glasses: On (893)
Cheap video, electro pop rock fun. Won’t change the world but will hopefully turn up on some underground cloud compilation in 2053.
PLANETARY (LOS ANGELES)
