APOLOGIES IF A VIDEO ISN’T AVAILABLE IN YOUR COUNTRY
1 Dub Addiction Collective – Ho Mouy Mao featuring Ras Muhamed (88)
Long time since they last dubbed and rolled. Great to hear their 2nd collection of Cambodian influenced dub pop.
2 The New Art School – My Band (30)
It’s always best when a band are in their own world. That’s where it all happens.
3 House Deposit – Ikea Dreaming (27)
Best pairing of band name and song title of 2019 ? We think so. Top little jangle pop number too. Top
4 Los Siquicos Litoraleños – Dostoyevski en el Minimercado (54)
We know nothing about this lot but this track is so beyond fucking cool we had to find out more. Luckily they are on bandcamp. So here are the people who know, telling us about this amazing outfit. “In Argentina’s countryside, Los Siquicos Litoraleños has slowly carved out an idiosyncratic sound indebted to local folk traditions, improvisational and noise music…the group record on whatever equipment they can find, be that Walkmans, four-track recorders, or even digital cameras, layering different qualities of sound on top of one another. Kokote says each sonic layer acts as a “portal to a neighbouring universe”, a concept perhaps partly influenced by the psilocybin mushrooms growing around Curuzú Cuatiá.” Lewis Gordon, (FactMag)
“…a unique triumph of homegrown rural psychedelia, standing alone on the edge of an unchartered vanguard….Los Siquicos Litoraleños are the contemporary group you keep hoping exist, but can never find. If you were to reach for spiritual comparisons, you wouldn’t be forgetting the most spirited moments from Sun City Girls, Butthole Surfers, Faust, Os Mutantes, Captain Beefheart or The Residents.” Mark Gergis, (Forced Exposure)
5 El Wali – Long Live the Sahrawi Army (69)
The sound of desired freedom is a thing of joy indeed. On Sahel Sounds , of course.
6 Kid Acne – Have A Word (179)
Jaunty UK hip hop that kicks off with the line, ” I’m Eating Black Forest Gateaux in the Forest of Dean” … short and very sweet.
7 Talk Whiff (feat. Jason Williamson) · Scorn (271)
Ex Extreme Noise Terror guy teams up with a Sleaford Mod on Burial type outing that sounds like the dampest darkest greyest November (UK) day possible.
8 Black Sonic Sound – Original Trip (302)
Wow got a cool Blue Lines thing going on. From 1997 . Mystery 12″ know nothing about it.
9 Hot Shorts – My Cat is Gonna Live Forever (359)
Cat loving record record par excellence.
All we can say is
10 Ultramarine – $10 Heel (895)
Released last year, don’t know how we missed an Ultramarine release..Just listen and wonder how music like this doesn’t get through to you on the usual channels.
