“What sparked the title track Benevolence was basically my daily worry about my parents getting older. It’s written as a thank you to those who’ve always been there for you out of love, not expecting anything in return” says singer and guitarist Mattis Malinen. “It’s a weird song in a way, because to me it’s both happy and sad – contrasting the emotions of gratefulness for people who love and support you with the feeling that they’re not going to be around forever. It’s about facing and accepting our mortality, whilst making the most of the time you’ve got left with the ones you love”.
