Salt Cathedral have shared their transfixing new single “Te Quiero Olvidar” from their forthcoming debut album due out this April on Ultra Music. The duo push their adventurous sound mixing ethereal elements with Caribbean rhythms and a wistful vocal to hypnotic effect. The song deals with trying to forget someone who won’t give themselves fully but also won’t let you leave their life completely. Listen to “Te Quiero Olvidar”.
“Te Quiero Olvidar” follows the December release of Salt Cathedral’s “CAVIAR”, also from their forthcoming debut, which NYLON called “as delectable as its title”. The song is an impassioned rejection of materialism in relationships and a celebration of the liberation that comes with it. The group has also shared two other tracks from the album.
Last fall they released the dreamy and playfully romantic “tus ojos”, which is their first song all in Spanish. The accompanying video, directed by Fuerzas Básicas and Andrea Vivo, echoes the playful quality with front-woman Juli escaping through a painting into a series of surreal pastiches that fill her with wonder. It was preceded by the daring and lovestruck single “muévelo“ which is also a tongue-in-cheek nod to El General’s classic reggaeton precursor “Muévelo”.
