Reports From a Pandemic, by Davin Michael Stedman

Things you think about during the opening ceremonies of a potential Pandemic. The money. Wash your hands they say. Don’t touch your eyes they say.

But every minute a cashier is handling a different person’s money. Depositing it into a register with everyone else’s money. Touching everyone’s ID.

Crowds gather to a Costco to gather supplies to stay away from the people they are gathering next to.

My mind wanders towards other scenarios as other nation’s push towards a cashless society as the world loses faith in our dollar. But I keep taking the cash.

I make up jokes. My tip jar fills.

I never get sick. Well sometimes a sniffle.

I go home and pick up Aesop’s Fables. I read a few stories last night.

It’s a dark comedy about how people never change, brought to you by furry animals.

Which animal am I?

Seattleites are actually relatively insulated from contracting Coronavirus. For most Americans no longer shaking a stranger’s hands is a major adjustment to social behavior.

In the Northwest it’s just called The Seattle Freeze. It is a tradition.
