Norwegian singer Emilie Nicolas returns today (March 13) with her new single ‘Who’s Gonna Love You’. The first new music to be heard since her acclaimed 2018 album Tranquille Emile, the new single also stands as the first cut to be lifted from her third album, due for release in May this year.

A song centred around the difficulties of letting go of a relationship – it’s a track where melancholy meets relief, encapsulated neatly by the track’s heartbreaking bridge passage: “Are you OK without me? / Say you’ll be be fine without me / Oh you gonna fuck up as much as you do, with or without me. I can’t let go / Let me let go.”

Brought to life by Emilie’s intense, R&B-flecked electro-pop, Emilie said this on the release of the new single: “I really wanted to make a song you can move and dance to. ‘Who’s Gonna Love You’ is about letting go of someone you love. And the feeling of still being responsible for that person’s happiness, when you’re not in a position to provide any comfort or support at all.”

Emilie Nicolas’ as-yet-untitled third album finds her experimenting even further within the unique brand of electronic pop she’s forged over the past 5 years. Uniting elements of pop, R&B and electronica – all wrapped in the sensibility of jazz – her new material succinctly captures despair, unbridled joy, and the desire to dance.

“I think it’s an album that shows some new sides of me,” Emilie went on to say. “I hope it makes you want to dance, and at the same time provides moments of calm, warmth and reflection.”

Previously awarded two Norwegian Grammy’s for “Pop Artist Of The Year” and “Album Of The Year”, Emilie toured her second album Tranquille Emile extensively in 2019, culminating in two sold-out nights at the 1400-capacity Oslo Opera House in October ’19.

No longer simply a purveyor of “cool pop”, Emilie is intent on bringing her fans even deeper into her world. Writing from a more honest and reflective place than ever before – her appetite for musical creativity is indisputably at its peak.
