I’ve just received the latest from Dan at Cae Gwyn Records and it is three amazing tracks from the upcoming Omaloma debut album Swish. A mind-relieving and mind expanding electronic / chilled / synth-based masterwork. This is awesome and incredibly important new Welsh music and East Portland Blog is very proud to present it to you as part of our ongoing commitment to bring greater knowledge of the music, musicians and language of Wales into the United States. To be a chosen media outlet able to share this with you in advance of the planned April release is a great honor for humble EPB. We are not worthy! Thank you Dan, George and all of Omaloma. You are the best!
Formed in the Conwy Valley during 2015, Omaloma’s synth tinged psychedelic pop won instant appeal in Wales and beyond. The band have graced the Latitude Festival twice, as well as Green Man and Festival Number 6. In 2018 the band supported G wenno on her UK tour. To this date they are the only Welsh act to be twice named BBC Introducing artist of the month. Huw Stephens has championed them on BBC Radio 1, whilst 6 Music’s Lauren Laverne, Tom Ravenscroft, Gideon Coe and Tom Robinson have all played the band.
These songs were recorded and produced by Llŷr Pari at Glan Llyn Studio, Melin y Coed. Omaloma feature a stellar live line up, with band members also playing with the likes of Cate le Bon, Gwenno, Y Niwl, Sen Segur, Bitw and Eitha Tal Franco:
George Amor (vocals, synths)
Llŷr Pari (drums, sample pad)
Daf Owain (bass)
Alex Morrison (synths)
Gruff ab Arwel (guitar)
