Kathy Moore says this about the inspiration for this song:
I wrote this song for my friend, Shawn Smith, a year ago. In the twelve months since he’s passed, though, I believe this song is more and more relevant to my life, to all our lives. So, today, I’m pleased to release the song for you recorded with my band, Kathy Moore Super Power Trio. The song cries. I cry on it. We all cried on it.
This is the first release for our new band. We won’t let the end of the world bring us down. As the song says, Some day we’ll fly. Don’t let the sun go down…
If you’re reading this, you’re my friend. And I want to make sure you’re okay. I hope this song helps. I hope this song heals. I hope this song finds you whole, or close to it.
The song features me, Kathy Moore, on guitar and vocals. Faith Stankevich on drums. Alyssa Martini on bass. Don Gunn engineered it. Rachel Field mastered it. Artwork by Nikki Barron. Photos by Steve Korn.
“I dislike ‘Rest In Peace.’ I don’t want to rest in peace, I want to soar like an eagle and have a glorious time.” – Shawn Smith
When we get back to reality I’ll have video shoots with dancing and animation and choreographers and videographers and so forth–but in this time of DIY this video was super fun– enjoy– share
