KYREN is an American singer and lyricist who combines dreamy R&B-inspired vocals, heady instrumentals, and authentic narratives in each track. She is diverse in her inspiration, drawing on hip hop, vaporwave, neo-soul, electronic, and rock to construct a genre-bending alternative pop soundscape.
Born Kassandra Gabriel Queeno in Louisville, Kentucky, her affinity for music became evident at a young age. She began to sing not long after she learned to speak, and she strengthened that connection with music in her early teen years when she taught herself to play various instruments and performed in school talent shows. She worked long hours as a young adult to afford vocal lessons while also interning at a local recording studio — all to fine-tune her sound and learn her craft.
Soon after, she befriended another intern and a producer who were intrigued by her vision, and the three joined together in a journey to create the project she imagined. Within a couple of years, KYREN had donned her mononym and was performing at open mics and local venues where she began the slow grind to the top of Louisville’s music scene.
KYREN dreams of life as a full-time recording artist, and creating progress and change as a young woman in a male-dominated industry. She believes that a bright future is possible through hard work and dedication regardless of one’s circumstances. “Progress takes place outside of the comfort zone, in art and in life,” she says, and she never lingers in her comfort zone.
