(February 5, 2021 — Santa Monica, CA) Fresh off a GOLDEN GLOBE® nomination and the release of her debut album, Not Your Muse, Celeste returns with a fresh, enchanting take on the timeless lullaby “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.” She teamed up with Inspiration4, the world’s first all-civilian mission to space, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to record the song for the Inspiration4 Super Bowl ad, which will run during the first quarter of CBS’s national broadcast of the Big Game this Sunday, February 7. Released today by Interscope Records, “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” is available HERE and can also be found on the deluxe edition of Not Your Muse.
The 30-second spot, created by the ad agency Known, highlights the milestone event in human space exploration and announces the opportunity for two people to join the four-person crew. It also invites viewers to make a difference here on earth by supporting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Actress-producer-director Bryce Dallas Howard directed the commercial.
Celeste’s Not Your Muse is poised to enter the UK Official Artist Albums Chart at Number 1. It features twelve songs, including nine brand new tracks alongside acclaimed singles “Strange,” “A Little Love” and “Stop This Flame.” The deluxe edition contains an additional ten tracks, including “Hear My Voice,” which received a GOLDEN GLOBE nomination for Best Original Song – Motion Picture earlier this week. Celeste co-wrote “Hear My Voice” with GOLDEN GLOBE-nominated composer Daniel Pemberton for the Netflix film The Trial of the Chicago 7.
Celeste and Pembertonsaid, “We are both super excited to have our song ‘Hear My Voice’ nominated for a Golden Globe. We wrote it for the powerful film, The Trial of the Chicago 7, but by the time it came out the world around us had changed, making its message somehow feel almost even more relevant to right now. It’s always important for everyone to have their voices heard. Thank you HFPA for hearing ours and Aaron Sorkin for writing and directing such a powerful and inspiring film.”
Praising Celeste’s “dreamy, smoky voice,” Rolling Stone put Not Your Muse on its list of “The Best Albums of January 2021.” NPR Music hailed the album as “stunning.” Highlighting the song “Love Is Back,” The Wall Street Journal said, “Despite its forward-thinking nature, the song has a distinctly retro feel, with big-band horns, groovy piano chords and Celeste’s soulful, velvety vocals.” NYLON, tipping Celeste as an artist to watch, noted, “The U.K.-based British-Jamaican boasts big, classic vocals that have made a resounding splash in her home country.”
In this feature article, The New York Times observed, “In addition to Billie Holiday, there are echoes of Nina Simone, Eartha Kitt and Amy Winehouse in her music, which can veer from ‘Stop This Flame,’ a funky, jittering tale of romantic determination, to ‘Strange (Edit),’ a showstopping ballad that lingers over romantic despondency.”
After winning both the BBC’s “Sound of 2020” poll and the BRIT Awards’ “Rising Star” prize last year, Celeste clearly is on track to an unparalleled ascent in 2021.
