Los Angeles, CA (April 8, 2022) – Venezuelan artist and creative director Andrekza [An•DRECK•sa], releases debut album Cassette featuring focus track “Mil Curitas”produced by famed producer Albert Hype (Bad Bunny, Kali Uchis, Rauw Alejandro) via Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak En Fuego. The album includes collaborations with genre-bending artists such as Gabriel Garzón-Montano and Carlos Sadness.
“Andrekza is a true creative. She’s a fusion of life experiences, and it shows in her music, style, and overall creative. She represents what we are looking for at Dim Mak En Fuego – Latin artists that can be a global force. We are excited to release her first album,” said Steve Aoki.
Andrekza’s first memory connecting with music is with a cassette player her mom gifted her when she was young, so when it came time to finally share her story she wanted others to experience a little bit of the magic she felt through her very own Cassette. “There are 15 stages of my life that shaped me to become the person I am today, I navigate through different rhythms from r&b to dembow, experiencing new sounds that I call japoneton,” explains Andrekza about the concept of her album. Cassette is an experimental album like Andrekza’s life which she considers an experiment of ebbs and flows.
The visuals for the focus track “Mil Curitas” and all the songs on the album were created, directed, and produced by a combination of Andrekza and her team at Lotus Visual Arts and Costa Rican Sebas Coto. Inspired by a mixture of cosplay and 90s vibes that encapsulate Andrekza’s essence and empower her to break free from the mindset that you need someone to make you complete. There are 15 visuals for Cassette, one for each song, with three more being released post-album release.
“‘Mil Curitas’ is the realization that we have been receiving less than we deserve and when the love is gone and you find yourself alone you finally understand that you don’t need anyone to be happy because happiness is a state of mind that depends on you,” explains Andrekza about her inspiration behind the focus song.
“Sangre Poderosa”
“I feel an obligation to represent and raise my voice for my people so that we’re all aware of what’s happening…to exhibit our language, our beauty, our virtues, our powerful blood, and hold our faces up high.”
“Pedro Pan”
“I’ve often seen how people are loved because of their physical characteristics or how we think of love as a need and how we leave people because of their skin color, their ethnicity, looks or lack of material wealth…’Peter Pan’ taught me that no matter how different the love of your life is from you if you want it to work you will find a way to take them to Neverland.”
