New York-based musician Robert Hoagland, aka ROB Rise On Belief, releases his latest single “When Susie Puts On Her Makeup,” a powerful ode to women across the world. The guitar-led rock song tells the universal story of a woman who refuses to let anyone diminish her self-worth. The robust rock track mastered by noted engineer Fred Kevorkian (The White Stripes, Dave Matthews Band, Iggy Pop, Willie Nelson) was recorded at the famed Avatar Studios, now known as Power Station. This release from Hoagland’s upcoming album Bright Fame, out Friday June 17th, provides listeners a peek into the overall musical tone of his upcoming project. “When Susie Puts On Her Makeup,” is now available on all music streaming platforms.
ROB Rise On Belief aims to uplift and motivate through song. When asked about the track, the artist states “‘When Susie Puts On Her Makeup’ tells the story of a woman stepping into her power. Susie wants women not to be afraid to be beautiful, she wants to empower all women to live their best lives and to live authentically. Susie is every woman.”
Carly Doenges of MuzikReviews has characterized the New York City-based band as “If Jimi Hendrix and Lenny Kravitz somehow had a love child and let the Red Hot Chili Peppers raise it.” Blending multiple genres including rock, funk and Latin, with a hint of soul, ROB Rise On Belief wants to introduce listeners to the genre of funk rock.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York to a family that celebrated the arts, ROB Rise On Belief frontman Robert Hoagland was destined to be a performer from an earlier age. Motivated by his uncle, John Blount, a founding member of the 50’s doowoop group, The Delroys, and influenced by his late mother, photographer Carolyn Hoagland, the singer-songwriter cites both people as his core inspiration for shaping him to be the entertainer he is today.
After attending the prestigious Brooklyn Conservatory of Music, where he studied opera and vocal techniques, Hoagland gained the proper education to pursue his dream and form his own band. With his creative upbringing and his musical education, Hoagland blended eclectic sounds of rock, soul, with hints of 1970’s and 80’s flair, creating a distinctive sound all his own.
ROB Rise On Belief has gone on to perform on some of the most legendary stages throughout New York, including the famed Apollo Theater, Webster Hall, CBGBs, The Knitting Factory, The Cutting Room and SOBs among others. ROB Rise On Belief is gearing up to release their new EP, Bright Fame, out June 17, 2022.
