Today, singer/songwriter Jenevieve releases the visual for the track “Nxwhere” off of her debut project “Division.” The Aus Taylor-directed video is set on the countryside’s of Mexico and captures the surreal essence of the single.
“Nxwhere” finds Jenevieve in search for love amid fiery skies and the underwater kingdom of Atlantis. Expert producer Lophiile remixed the single for the recently released deluxe version of “Division” where he amplifies the imagery through intense sonic highs and lows, with stomping 808 drums, whistle synths, and crooned harmonies. Jenevieve’s honeyed vocals sail and swirl among the soundscapes, broadcasting to her future lover with equal hope and loneliness: “If you got nowhere to go tonight, I’ll meet you there.”
The “Nxwhere (lophiile remix)” is just one of many varied textures that Jenevieve brings on Division Deluxe. The bittersweet memories of first love take center stage on the velveteen, 2 Chainz-assisted “Baby Powder,” Ghostface adds a visceral rawness to the hip-hop-indebted “Medallion,” and then there’s “Against All Odds,” a piano-trap interpretation of Phil Collins’ 1981 hit of the same name.
