DeVries pulls aspects from her classic country roots in lyricism; by focusing on the theme of the loss of love and loneliness. The lyric, “No matter what I prove, there’s still one thing that my heart can’t do, I can’t go back to Memphis” explains the author’s lost love that is always remembered when in Memphis. The loneliness she feels is explained in the chorus of the song, “Can’t walk these city streets alone at night, see your face in every stranger.”
