Announcing Hania Rani’s ‘On Giacometti’ — a delicate collection of recordings inspired by the renowned artist and family. The album is available to pre-order on beautifully bespoke, limited edition LP and download.
Invited by Director Susanna Fanzun to score her forthcoming documentary on the legendary artist Alberto Giacometti, Hania took herself to the Swiss mountains to compose in blissful isolation. Giacometti has long been one of Hania’s favourite artists so she readily immersed herself in his world. The compositions build on improvised piano melodies, simple harmonies and structures, while also drawing on the silence of the mountains and the winter sun. ‘On Giacometti’ is a deeply tender meditation on the artist’s art and life, the first single ‘Spring’ is out now.
“Spring season became an important symbol for the whole image of the soundtrack. Not only referring to the story about Giacometti’s family but also to my personal life and place where I was growing up in Poland, when the grey and short days were believed to transform to those filled with warmth of the spring sun. Spring was always something to wait for, something worthy of patience.”
