Here’s a fantastic new single from the Alpines, titled, “Maybe.” You’re gonna love it. Please listen hard.
The Alpines are a Salt Lake City, Utah based music partnership between Bri McCall and Danny Patiño, who are both awesome.
Together they blend Americana, psychedelic, dance, folk, synth, and indie into their ever expanding musical universe. One of their fans describes them as sounding like, “a mix between Fleetwood Mac and Pink Floyd.”
Their upcoming debut album, “Heading North,” tells the story of four weary travelers finding a new home in a post apocalyptic backdrop and all of the band’s major influences— Beach House, The National, Arcade Fire, Alt-J, The Marias and The Lumineers— can be heard in The Alpines’ sonic presentation.
The new tune is extremely catchy and Bri has strong feelings of positivity toward the band’s future. “’Maybe’ is just the beginning of this crazy ride ahead for The Alpines. I know in my bones we are going places,” she declares.
Bri and Danny added bassist Jake Trotts and drummer Levi Johnson once they were performance ready. When Jake showed up to audition for the bad, he said, “I have been listening to your demos on repeat. I feel like I am meeting celebrities right now, I love your music.”
Since then the band has become a strong unit and gotten a positive response every time they play.
“Maybe” was recorded in Provo, Utah with Porter Chapman, whom the band like a great deal. “Porter Chapman was so fun to work with. He is extremely talented and focused, but he also knows how to keep you entertained as you wait for hours in the studio. We often times would watch Game of Thrones on the projector while we were waiting around,” said Bri.
Danny and Bri wrote their album, Heading North, before Bri left on a 400 mile hike across half of the Pacific Northwest Trail (Montana and Idaho). A lot of the songs were written in preparation or in response to her hike. She was alone in grizzly bear country hiking upwards of 25 miles a day through snow, water, and mud.
“Maybe” is the first song on the album Heading North. It is the calm before the storm. It is the “day to day, little things, what do I want, how could my life be different song,” Says Bri, “‘Maybe’ is about letting life pass you by when you have dreams of something better.”
