One of the many high privileges that comes with maintaining East Portland Blog is the opportunity to present music from anywhere, but particularly from the other Portlands of the globe. Anywhere His Majesty’s navy sailed, a Portland or two was sure to be left behind, like a lost anchor or a social disease. There are at least eleven Portlands in the US, two in Australia, one in Jamaica, and, of course, untold Anglo-spheric others. Today’s Portland music is from a handsome band called Man/Woman/Chainsaw who (we think) are from the original (?) Portland, the one in the UK, which is an island. We discovered this band through the discerning ears of the legendary Sean Hocking, creator of Bottom of the Pops, who, this week, said:
“Man/Woman/Chainsaw – Back/Burden Up there with M(h)aol – Great band and great to hear this out of Portland.”
